Definition: The percentage of AI mentions your brand receives compared to competitors in your category.
Share of Voice (SOV) in AI search measures what percentage of mentions your brand receives compared to competitors when users ask AI about your category.
Calculating AI Share of Voice
Your SOV = Your Mentions / Total Category Mentions × 100%
If AI mentions 4 brands in your category across 100 queries:
- Your brand: 35 mentions → 35% SOV
- Competitor A: 40 mentions → 40% SOV
- Competitor B: 20 mentions → 20% SOV
- Competitor C: 5 mentions → 5% SOV
